Values
What do you stand for?
As leaders, we’re often asked to define our strategy, drive results, and navigate change.
But how often do we pause to ask: What do I really stand for, and how does that shape the way I lead?
Values aren’t just abstract concepts – they’re the anchors that keep us grounded in times of uncertainty, tension, and transition. Values guide our decisions, shape our relationships, and influence how we show up as a leader, especially when things get tough.
Reflecting on values is a powerful starting point for developing as a leader
Why values matter
Throughout my own journey, I’ve found that understanding my core values has been invaluable in shaping my leadership approach. Once you understand your values, they act like a compass keeping you in the right direction even if the exact path isn’t always immediately obvious.
This has never more important than when I have led through tough times, complex situations, and periods of change. Understanding and intentionally drawing on values like integrity, resilience, and collaboration was hugely helpful for me to lead with clarity, even when the path wasn’t obvious.
When we understand our values, we lead with more confidence, alignment, and impact.
A framework for reflection
Here’s a simple downloadable worksheet for you to identify and reflect on your values. You can use this framework to journal, reflect, or spark a conversation with a coach or peer. It’s especially useful to do this during periods of change, decision points, or moments of uncertainty.

Values in coaching
Reflecting on values is a powerful foundation for coaching. It helps clarify what matters most, where you feel aligned (or misaligned), and what kind of leader you want to become.
If you’re navigating change or seeking clarity, I’d love to discuss this with you.
